Overview of Faculty

In the effort to contribute to the development of education sector in Rwanda, the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) launched the Faculty of Education in 2018. It is accredited by the Ministry of Education on 16/10/2018. The main aim of establishing the Faculty of Education is to bring in a stamp which is truly appropriate to Catholic education. More specifically, this entails:

  • Training people who are endowed with a critical mind and who are morally upright in the domain of education;
  • Bringing in the Rwandan society the culture of rigorous and constructive thinking;
  • Educating the youth in the Catholic spirit;
  • Training morally conscious and professionally competent personnel for the Rwandan society in general and the Church in particular, especially in the education sector.

  1. Department of Geography and History: the programme is meant to train those who aspire to be secondary school teachers of History and Geography, with high level of confidence applying modern teaching practices acquired along the program.

  2. Department of Languages with the Options of

    - English-French,
    - English-Kinyarwanda
    - English - Kiswahili
    .
    It trains those who aspire to be secondary school teachers of languages, with high level of confidence applying modern teaching practices acquired along the program.

Dean's Message

The motivation to create a dedicated Faculty of Education in the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi (ICK) stems from the fact that it is the core mission of the Catholic Church to teach which is already being carried out by ICK.
Thus, the creation and existence of that new Faculty would stand as a means for ICK to offer its contribution to the development of education sector in Rwanda. The main objective of this Faculty is to gradually bring in the Catholic Institute of Kabgayi a stamp which is truly appropriate to Catholic education.

3. Postgraduate Diploma in School Leadership and Management

The programme is meant to train those who aspire to be secondary school leaders and managers. The aim of this programme is to equip educational managers and those aspiring to occupy managerial positions in educational institutions with the knowledge, understanding, skills, strategies and expertise in the area of school leadership and management.

4. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

As the programme of Postgraduate diploma programme is School Leadership and Management is meant to train those who aspire to be secondary school leaders and managers, it is preferable that they have a background in any education-related field from undergraduate level.
